Benny DeWitt

Benjamin DeWitt is a tattoo artist & also the owner of Good Heart Tattoo. 

He established the shop in 2019 after making a name for himself as a tattooer who would not only tackle any genre of tattooing but became known for his bright & bold emblematic work in American traditional style. 

Benny is a second-generation tattooer. His mother, Jan Puckett, was a professional sign painter and tattooer from Central IL and St. Louis area during the ’90s and early 2000s.

He worked around the family tattoo shop as a teenager and it inspired the idea that tattooing didn’t have to be a club and could be a safe space to make nice tattoos for a wider range of people.

After his mother’s death in 2004, Benny spent time traveling and eventually settled into an apprenticeship in 2011. He learned how to tattoo under Jason Lee at Newage Tattoos (est. 1998). In 2014, Benny decided to take his craft on the road. After an extensive period of travel, he brought what he learned back to Springfield and opened Good Heart.

His goal was to bring a unique, safe, and personal experience to tattooing. He strives to maintain a level of professionalism and honesty in an inclusive environment that is welcoming to people from all walks of life.
